There are many ways for you to help keep Highlawn a safe and friendly neighborhood:
1. Light up the neighborhood: turn on your exterior lights at night, install motion detecting lights, and dusk to dawn lights.
2. Be neighborly: get to know your neighbors and alert them if you see anything suspicious.
3. Call 9-1-1 to report suspicious activity or if you believe there is an emergency.
4. Help keep your yard and block well maintained and free of trash.
5. Keep the exterior of your home well lit at night and set timers when you’re away from your house.
In a recent meeting with the Cabell County 911 Call center, it has come to the Neighborhood Watch’s attention that clearly labeled street address assists the police, fire, and other emergency service in locating the correct house. Emergency services also asked us to remind people to label their garages or other buildings off of an alley way to help expedite assistance.
