Maintaining a Safe Neighborhood
The Highlawn Neighborhood Association (HNA) is home to a Neighborhood
Watch program. The Highlawn neighborhood is a quite, pleasant area of
Huntington . It’s the goal of the Neighborhood Watch to maintain the
quality of life and safety of our area.
There are many ways for you to help keep Highlawn a safe and
friendly neighborhood:
1. Light up the neighborhood: turn on your exterior lights at night,
install motion detecting lights, and dusk to dawn lights.
2. Be neighborly: get to know your neighbors and alert them if you see
anything suspicious.
3. Call 9-1-1 to report suspicious activity or if you believe there is
an emergency.
4. Help keep your yard and block well maintained and free of trash.
5. Set timers when you’re away from your house.
If you’d like to be more involved, you’re welcome to join your
neighbors by:
1. Placing a Highlawn Neighborhood Watch sign in your yard.
2. Attending the safe neighborhood workshops.
3. Taking the long way home (drive through the neighborhood as you come
and go, and report any suspicious activity).
4. Attending Neighborhood Watch meetings.
5. Volunteering to be a block captain.
